Notes
'Noir de Schmidt' sweet cherry (Prunus avium 'Noir de Schmidt') is a tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun. It is grown for eating fresh and has a columnar form that fits smaller spaces. It blooms from early to late spring and attracts butterflies and bees. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second cherry nearby for fruit.
Pairs well with Honey Gold peony, China Town tulip, and Smooth aster.
