'Nong Yuan Jin Pao' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Nong Yuan Jin Pao') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Fragrant, semi-double, reddish-purple flowers open in early to mid spring. Each bloom is 6.5 inches wide and faces upward. The upright plant reaches about 53 inches and has broadly cut green leaves that emerge red.
