Notes

'Northland' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Northland') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant white double blooms open early, when most other peonies are still in green bud. The stems are stiff, so it works well for cutting. Edward Auten, Jr. bred it in 1952.

Pairs well with Pale purple coneflower, Royal fern, Bobo hydrangea, and Spanish bluebell.
