Notes
'Onahama' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Onahama') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Dark red flowers open in early summer and sit high above the foliage. The plant is large and spreading, so give it room. Walter L. Gumm bred it in 1928.
Pairs well with American Gold Rush black-eyed Susan, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Cheerfulness daffodil.
