Notes

'Open Sesame' peony (Paeonia 'Open Sesame') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Yellow flowers with red flares sit one per stem, held tall and erect on strong stems above the bush, and they are lightly scented. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Liberty hosta, Prairie dropseed, and Nodding onion.
