Notes

'Orcas' pear (Pyrus communis 'Orcas') is a tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open in early to late spring and draw butterflies, bees, and birds. The tree is grown for fresh eating, and the fruit is good and ripens early. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second pear nearby for pollination.

Pairs well with Plum, Woolly yarrow, and Gladiator ornamental onion.
