ornamental onion

Notes

Ornamental onion (Allium altissimum) is a bulb for the food garden. It is typically grown as an annual. Few crops handle cold as well, and with a little winter protection it grows on through light freezes. This plant likes full or part sun and dry soil. Large, round heads of warm purple flowers top stems that reach 5 to 6 feet tall. Plant it in groups of 3, 5, 7, or more.

Pairs well with Little Trudy nepeta, Pyrethrum daisy, and Sage.
