Notes

Ornamental onion (Allium nigrum) is a bulb for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It bears large half spheres of white flowers on tall stems. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Plant it in groups of 3, 5, 7, or more.

Pairs well with Bowl of Cream peony, Greig's tulip, and September Charm anemone.
