Notes
'Painted Dragon' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Painted Dragon') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The red blooms have a Japanese form with red-violet guards. The center staminodes come in red, purple, pink, and yellow, with shades in between. Julian L. Janus bred it.
Pairs well with Black-eyed Susan, Royal fern, Spanish bluebell, and Charles Joly lilac.
