Notes

'Painted Star' peony (Paeonia 'Painted Star') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Its bright yellow blooms flare black with red tinges in early to late spring. Derek Irvine bred it. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with Cardinal flower, Blue fescue, Sundrops, and Nelly Moser clematis.
