Notes
Painted wake robin (Trillium undulatum) is a perennial for shade gardens, ground cover, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. White flowers with deep pink markings rise above a whorl of three blue-green leaves. Each wavy-edged petal has a reddish purple V at its base. Bright-red fruits appear in early fall, and bees visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Dutchman's breeches, Royal fern, and Sedge.
