Notes

'Patrician' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Patrician') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double flowers have pink guard petals that fade lighter at the base and deepen toward the crown. It blooms at midseason on strong, medium height stems. Ernest Flint Kelsey bred it.

Pairs well with Spotted dead nettle, Incrediball Storm Proof smooth hydrangea, Black Parrot tulip, and Sensitive fern.
