Notes

'Paul Friesen' peony (Paeonia 'Paul Friesen') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Bright red single blooms measure 4 to 5 inches wide on strong, sturdy stems, with golden yellow centers around red stamens. Robert William Tischler bred it. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, Rainforest Sunrise hosta, Sedge, and Queen of Night tulip.
