Notes
'Penda' lilac (Syringa 'Penda') is a shrub for hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows 36 to 48 inches tall and wide. Purple-pink flowers open in mid to late spring and smell sweet.
Pairs well with Gertrude Jekyll rose, Monsieur Jules Elie peony, Gladiator ornamental onion, and Royal Star star magnolia.
