Notes

'Pendula' European beech (Fagus sylvatica 'Pendula') is a tree for specimen planting, accent, and shade garden use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It grows slowly into a dense shape with fall color, and birds visit it. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Give it plenty of room, since it can grow tall and wide.

Pairs well with Christmas fern, Lungwort, and Obsidian coral bells.
