Notes
'Peter Oleson' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Peter Oleson') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single red flowers have one row of bright petals around many yellow stamens. Stiff, strong stems hold the blooms erect, so they make good cut flowers. Oleson bred it, and it blooms in the medium season.
Pairs well with American Gold Rush black-eyed Susan, Queen of Night tulip, and Garlic chives.
