Notes

'Phantom' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Phantom') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The semi-double flowers are a deep, dull wine red. The stems are sturdy and upright. William Henry Krekler bred it in 1977.

Pairs well with American Gold Rush black-eyed Susan, Queen of Night tulip, and Western sword fern.
