Notes

'Ponemah' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Ponemah') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its large, soft pink flowers open flat and shade lighter at the petal edges. The blooms are fragrant, and the center petals are narrow and laciniated. Alonzo B. Franklin bred it, and it is a sturdy grower and a free bloomer.

Pairs well with Switchgrass, Stargazer lily, and Japanese spirea.
