Notes

'Prairie Fire' switchgrass (Panicum virgatum 'Prairie Fire') is a grass for borders, accents, rain gardens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy or clay soil. It forms a clumping mound 48 to 60 inches tall and tolerates salt. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Butterflies and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Little bluestem, Blue star, and Oakleaf hydrangea.
