Notes

'Prairie State' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Prairie State') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large pink semi-double blooms are much deeper pink toward the center. They sit on tall, stiff stems. Edward Auten, Jr bred it, and it gives good results in heat where many full doubles are uncertain.

Pairs well with Showy milkweed, Bobo hydrangea, Spotted dead nettle, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
