Notes

Purple flowering raspberry (Rubus odoratus) is a shrub for pollinator gardens, low maintenance beds, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Fragrant rose-purple flowers open in spring and summer, and bees and butterflies visit them. The canes are thornless, and the plant spreads by suckers to form broad patches, so give it room.

Pairs well with Spicebush, White trillium, Virginia rose, and Hosta.
