Notes

'Purple Robe' peony (Paeonia 'Purple Robe') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Light purple to lilac-pink flowers have darker edges and violet-red flares in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Butterflies visit the blooms, and Derek Irvine bred this peony.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Mock orange, and Big bluestem.
