Notes

'Purpurea' cherry (Prunus cistena 'Purpurea') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It needs little care, so it suits a low maintenance garden. Fragrant flowers open in spring, and bees and birds visit the plant.

Pairs well with Borealis honeyberry, Danica American arborvitae, Red fescue, and Drumstick primrose.
