Notes
'Purpurea Plena' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Purpurea Plena') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Charles Prosper Van Geert bred it, and he is the person behind this old cultivar. Cut the blooms for bouquets, and give the shrub a spot where it can stay for years.
Pairs well with Monkshood, Cinnamon fern, and Stargazer lily.
