Notes

'Pygmaeus' mother of thyme (Thymus serpyllum 'Pygmaeus') is a perennial for ground cover, rock gardens, borders, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. Purple-pink flowers open from early to late summer and attract butterflies and bees. The creeping stems grow fast and form a fragrant mat about 3 inches tall. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Sundrops, Blue grama, and Gladiator ornamental onion.
