Notes

'Queen of Spring' peony (Paeonia 'Queen of Spring') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its single, fragrant flowers open orange-red on plants up to 30 inches tall. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms, and William Henry Krekler bred it.

Pairs well with Blue Angel hosta, Culver’s root, Little Beauty tulip, and Blue grama.
