Notes
'Rainbow Marcella' coneflower (Echinacea purpurea 'Rainbow Marcella') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms, which open from early to late summer and again in autumn. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It also tolerates drought and salt.
Pairs well with Dense blazing star, Prairie Sun rudbeckia, Silver feather grass, and Catmint.
