Notes

'Ralph Smith' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Ralph Smith') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double flowers are a deep, rich red with broad, flaring outer petals around a bomb-shaped center. Archie M. Brand bred it, and it makes a great cut flower.

Pairs well with Balloon flower, Prairie dropseed, and Black Hero tulip.
