Notes

'Red Bird' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Red Bird') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant, rose-red flowers open in early summer and have a darker center. The anemone-type blooms have broad guard petals around narrow petaloids. Alonzo B. Franklin bred it.

Pairs well with Fringed bleeding heart, Prairie dropseed, and Blanket flower.
