Notes

Red bishop's hat (Epimedium rubrum) is a perennial for borders, low maintenance beds, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Bees visit the crimson and yellow flowers. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It also tolerates drought once settled in.

Pairs well with Little brown jug, Lady fern, and Rozanne crane's-bill.
