Notes

'Red Carpet' peony (Paeonia 'Red Carpet') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The dark red blooms open from early to late spring and into early summer, and they lighten as they mature. Butterflies visit the flowers. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Cheyenne Spirit echinacea, Arabella clematis, and Lily.
