Notes

'Red Crown' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Red Crown') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type blooms are rich red and medium sized, with extra wide center petaloids and golden edges. Tall, stiff stems hold the flowers upright. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Blue sage, and Black Hero tulip.
