Red Eye'/'Silver Spring ornamental onion

Notes

'Red Eye'/'Silver Spring' ornamental onion (Allium basalticum 'Red Eye'/'Silver Spring') is a bulb for the food garden. It is typically grown as an annual. It is one of the more cold-hardy crops and can keep growing through light freezes with some winter protection. This plant likes full or part sun. Tight heads of fragrant, white, star-like flowers have dark purple ovaries surrounded by a flush of pink. Florets can also be flushed with pink in bud and as they age.

Pairs well with Pasque flower, Honorine Jobert anemone, and Lemon balm.
