Notes

'Red Eyed Susie' peony (Paeonia 'Red Eyed Susie') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Donald Robert Smith bred it, and the semi-double, deep yellow flowers have dark red flares and a mild, pleasant fragrance. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Stargazer lily, Switchgrass, and Woolly yarrow.
