Notes

'Regal' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Regal') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, single flowers are black red with a full center of golden stamens. The color is clear and holds well, and it is not a blue red. Mrs. Walter Campbell Lyman bred it, and the fine foliage looks strong.

Pairs well with Bloodroot, Black chokeberry, and Kentucky bluegrass.
