Notes

'Roberts Crab' apple (Malus domestica 'Roberts Crab') is a tree for fruit, juice, and spring flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The large fruits have dark purple skin and deep red flesh. People grow it for cider and for jams and jellies, where the red flesh adds color. Dark pink flowers open in early to late spring and attract bees.

Pairs well with Cat mint, Pink Impression tulip, Kentucky coffee tree, and Buffalo grass.
