Notes

Rocky mountain maple (Acer glabrum) is a tree for shade gardens, woodland settings, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The early spring flowers are small but fragrant, and the leaves turn yellow to reddish-orange in fall. Gray bark, red twigs, and reddish winged seeds add color in winter.

Pairs well with Sensitive fern, Common snowberry, Dutchman's breeches, and Sedge.
