Notes
'Roma' greater masterwort (Astrantia major 'Roma') is a perennial for borders and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet soil of most types. The rose red flowers have silver-pink bracts and bloom in spring and again in summer, which draws butterflies. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Plants grow 18 to 24 inches tall.
Pairs well with Swamp milkweed, Ostrich fern, and Tickseed.
