Notes

'Romanian Red' garlic (Allium sativum 'Romanian Red') is a vegetable grown for its large, hot, and spicy cloves. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Each bulb has 4 to 6 cloves with a strong, pungent flavor, and the bulbs store for 6 to 9 months. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Plant it where it can grow upright to about 24 inches.

Pairs well with Ice Follies daffodil, Ring of Fire sunflower, and Zinderella Peach zinnia.
