Notes

'Royal Red' peony (Paeonia 'Royal Red') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant, dark red single flowers have two rows of petals and attract bees and butterflies. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Edward Auten, Jr bred it in 1956.

Pairs well with August Moon hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
