Notes

'Ruy Blas' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Ruy Blas') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Auguste Dessert bred it in 1888. The mauve blooms open in early summer and fade to lighter, silver-tipped petals. The compact, upright plants stay short.

Pairs well with Lungwort, Sensitive fern, and Cheerfulness daffodil.
