Notes

'Salmon Surprise' peony (Paeonia 'Salmon Surprise') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. The single coral-pink blooms have good substance and sit on strong stems above a bushy plant. Lyman Cousins bred it in 1968.

Pairs well with Wide Brim hosta, Pale purple coneflower, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
