Notes

'Samurai' toad lily (Tricyrtis formosana 'Samurai') is a clumping perennial for borders, shade gardens, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Purple flowers with darker purple spotting open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer.

Pairs well with June hosta, Lady fern, and Paperbark maple.
