Notes

'Sang Lorraine' peony (Paeonia 'Sang Lorraine') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It is a tree hybrid with semi-double blooms in deep mahogany red, blotched black at the base. The flowers open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Blue star, Balloon flower, Inkberry, and Jackmanii clematis.
