Notes

'Sappho' peony (Paeonia 'Sappho') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The fragrant, light purple blooms have red veining and open in late spring. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Each stem carries one bud and the stems are strong.

Pairs well with Balloon flower, Jackmanii clematis, and Japanese barberry.
