Notes
'Scarlet Wonder' peony (Paeonia 'Scarlet Wonder') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Scarlet to orange-red flowers with yellow undertones and dark red flares open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Derek Irvine bred it.
Pairs well with Blue fescue, Nelly Moser clematis, and Lily of the valley.
