Notes

'Sekkan-sugi' Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica 'Sekkan-sugi') is a tree for specimen planting, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It grows in a conical shape at a moderate rate, and it stays evergreen. It is also salt tolerant.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, September Charm anemone, and Bush honeysuckle.
