Notes
'Gyokuryu' Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica 'Gyokuryu') is a tree for specimen planting, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows at a moderate rate into a conical evergreen shape. It also tolerates salt. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.
Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Mountain mint, and Ornamental onion.
