Notes

'Sentry' peony (Paeonia 'Sentry') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its single, fragrant flowers are cardinal red with light yellow centers, and bees and butterflies visit them. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The stems stand rigidly upright, which gave the plant its name.

Pairs well with Empress Wu hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Nodding onion.
