Shaggy blazing star (Liatris pilosa) is a perennial for borders, cut flower gardens, pollinator gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Purple spikes open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms.
